An early issue 1842 pattern French bayonet with iron crossguard and with no marking to the back edge of the blade with its very rare original brass mounted buff leather belt with regimental markings.The belt buckle is formed by two brass discs held together by a snake clasp. The buckles are embossed with crossed cannon above a pile of cannon balls and surmounted by a flaming grenade.
